The “Echo of the Children” is a collaborative artwork by Michael Barber Art and the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students at École Gabriel-Dumont, part of Viamonde school board.
Inspired by rich, authentic conversations, about the importance of relationships with self, family, community, and Mother Earth, the artwork is a symbol of interconnection, interdependence and heritage. The turtle carries today’s stories to guide us toward a future rooted in respect, understanding, and healing.
In memory of the children, and in honour of the survivors and their families, students decided that the proceeds will go to the Woodland Cultural Center’s educational programs, a vital place of remembrance, learning, and cultural preservation.

Inspirée de partages centrés sur l’importance des relations positives avec soi, la famille, la communauté et Terre-Mère, cette œuvre représente l’interconnectivité et l’interdépendance. La tortue porte les histoires d’aujourd’hui, pour nous guider vers un avenir fondé sur le respect, la compréhension et la guérison.
En mémoire des enfants et en hommage aux survivants et à leurs familles, les élèves ont conçu ces chandails. Les profits seront remis au centre éducatif du Woodland Cultural Center, un lieu important de mémoire, d’éducation et de culture.
